More than providing support through awarding scholarships, we are investing in the future of health care. Your support makes a difference for each student.
Health Careers Scholarship
Together with the Sonoma County Medical Association, we proudly sponsor the Health Careers Scholarship.
Last year THE HOLIDAY GREETING CARD PROJECT celebrated its 50th Anniversary. In celebrating that golden milestone, many donors raised their level of giving to reach an all-time-high profit of $15,000. That amount, when matched with Sonoma County Medical Association Alliance Foundation funds raised by our Gala85 and the Garden Tour, a $10,000 grant from the Pacific Foundation for Medical Care, plus interest from our endowment fund with the Sonoma County Community Foundation culminated in an impressive total of $50,000.
All funds raised were directed to scholarships administered by the Health Career Scholarship Committee. Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors, medical students, nursing students, and students in other allied health fields at the undergraduate and graduate level. Applicants are residents of Sonoma County and are evaluated on financial need, grade point average, school-based activities, community-based activities, scholastic honors and awards, work experience, special family circumstances and their personal statement. For the Academic year 2016-2017, the committee was able to fund 20 students giving $50,000 in scholarships. This represents the highest award amount in the committee’s history and gives merit to our capacity for growth.
We are committed to building on that momentum. However, some things will change.
The HOLIDAY GREETING CARD will morph into a HEALTH CAREERS SCHOLARSHIP THANK YOU CARD where you will be recognized. The card will be delivered to you as well as acknowledged on our website. We are delighted to invite those donors of $500 or higher to our Summer Scholarship Luncheon where you can meet some of these extraordinary students. An option to donate “in honor of” and “in memory of” is available as well!
As has been customary this time of year, you may take this opportunity to donate. Just visit click on the orange “Donate” button (in the upper right portion of the page) where you can use Paypal or your credit card. Should you wish to send in your donation by check, you may do so by downloading this Scholarship Donation Form and sending the completed form along with your check to the address on the form. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Tax ID #02-0542304) and all donations are tax deductible.
Please take this moment to make the gift that ensures the future of health delivery
Since 1965, the medical community has raised funds to award scholarships to high school seniors entering college or a university. Also eligible to apply are full time students enrolled in medical school, nursing school and those completing health-related courses of study.
Please visit the 10,000 Degrees website (10000degrees.org) for more information about the application process. The Scholarship deadline for 10,000 degrees is March 2, 2017. The application is available thru their website now. Their email for general inquiries is firstname.lastname@example.org.
