RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP NOW

It's time to renew your SCMAA Membership!

WHAT CAN WE OFFER YOU? Given the current upheaval resulting from the COVID 19 Pandemic and our local fires, you may wonder if you'll ever see your fellow SCMAAF members in person again. You may even question what the SCMAAF can do for you. Here are just a few examples of the value of membership:

ENGAGEMENT: The SCMAAF Board has found ways to help our membership engage directly with the community to help working families with remote education and increase food security for foster and homeless youth.

EMPOWERMENT: We've already given you the ability to act directly to make a difference in our community through our annual Give-a-Gift donation drive and the Health Career Scholarship Program. Now, to meet the current COVID-related needs in our community, we've developed two new programs: Supporting Boys and Girls Club of Sonoma County through Amazon gifting, and regular food donations to VOICES Youth Programs.

SUPPORT: With our loved ones on the battlefront of COVID 19, we are all so isolated. Many feel the complete lack of optimism and positivity resulting from endless months of watching this pandemic churn through our community and our nation. The SCMAAF was created 90 years ago to bridge medical families together. Your fellow members know what you're going through and how you feel. We're here for you whether you're juggling remote learning amongst your kids, or you haven't seen your grandchildren in too long a time. We can relate to having our spouses return home exhausted and frustrated with the hyper-vigilance now required in ORs and doctor's offices. The battles may be new, but the SCMAAF has been fighting them since 1929.

Helping the Boys and Girls Club of
Sonoma County

The SCMAAF has donated as an organization — and you can donate as an individual

Boys and Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin have created distance learning solutions for working parents. At 12 locations across Sonoma County, children registered with Distance Learning Solutions are dropped off daily and join in groups of 12 to participate in supervised distance learning. Each child will have daily laptop access to their classroom with adult supervision. In the afternoon, the kids will enjoy outdoor time, crafts, and sometimes even cooking with their pod of 12. Boys & Girls Clubs make every effort to place same-aged children together. Since many of the clubs are co-located with a school, kids might even be in a pod with their classmates. At day's end, parents can opt for the usual Boys and Girls Club after school activities for their child.

The Club's first priority is safety! As such, the SCMAAF has donated 15 wall-mounted infrared thermometers for the classrooms. In addition, we have donated nearly 250 cardboard stand-up study carrels so that the children can distance learn without distraction. These study carrels can be personalized for each student.

YOU CAN DONATE DIRECTLY: The Boys and Girls Club has made it easy for you to assist by donating directly through Amazon.com. Please view their wishlist here. AND, make sure that you login under smile.amazon.com so your donation will also help the SCMAAF. Read More about Amazon Smile.

Help Relieve
Food Insecurity

VOICES Youth Programs adds another offering: Food
And you can help

VOICES Sonoma provides young people aging out of foster care with family-like support, acceptance, and accountability as they set their own goals and pursue them across VOICES’ youth-led core programs: Health and Wellness, Career and Education, and ILP-Independent Living Program.

Your donation can relieve some of the food insecurity that this fragile population has experienced as a result of the COVID 19 Pandemic.

We've currently set up two drop-off dates and will likely schedule more as Fall progresses.

We’ve provided the list below to take with you when you do your regular grocery shopping. You can download the flyer here.

You can drop off your donation at the following locations on these dates (feel free to drop off on both dates):

Wednesday & Thursday, September 9th & 10th, and

Wednesday & Thursday, September 23rd & 24th

Skyhawk: The Home of Liz Restel, 1444 Nighthawk Drive,
